In spite of young age, the team has already participated in Sakhalin Region mini football championship among women, which has been organized for 5th time. 7 teams in total are participating in the competition.
Girls won their first victory over “Yuventa” team (Novo-Aleksandrovsk) with the score of 2:1, second – 4:0 over “Olymp” from Nevelsk, and third – 9:0 over “Atlanta” (Lugovoye). To team captain’s mind, first game was the most difficult as the rival team was experienced a lot and participated in this tournament a lot of times before. The next game awaiting young athletes will be against “Sakhalinochka” team (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk)
– We set the goal to win “Atlanta” to get 9 points in total and become a decent rival for “Sakhalinochka”, as this team has always qualified from the island league to Far East Games, – Anastasiya Chermyaninova, team captain, student of 2nd year of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk College of Education. – The rival team is very experienced, but we hope that we will be able to show a good result.
University team is formed by students from Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk College of Education and school students. The young team had only 5 members at the start, and now there are 12 people in total.
– We can see the potential, good shape and the desire to do this sport in our youngest team members – school students. The best scorer of our team is the 7th grade student from Makarov, Sophia Ageeva. She comes to every game we have, – manager of the team, Vitaliy Korchagin, told us.
He notes that in case the team successfully finishes all games in the league it has good chances to show their skills outside of home region. University’s administration supports the development of mini football as this kind of sport is becoming more popular in Russian universities.
