Our Moscow colleagues made up their minds to start the “Many-sided Russia” project with Sakhalin. The first issue of the internet-journal had some different pages. Some of them were directly connected with Sakhalin State University. For example, professor Ikonnikova Elena took an active part in the program devoted to A. Chekhov. She presented a lot of interesting facts referring to the trip of famous Russian literary classic to Sakhalin and to his book «Sakhalin Island», made professional analysis of the materials. No doubt that participation of such high-qualified expert perfected the show. Director of Chekhov museum was also one of presenters at the seminar.
Another page was devoted to the joint MSU-SSU project ”Welcome to Sakhalin!”: it was Russian Language Intensive Course for Japanese students, that took place in Sakhalin State University in 2017 and 2018. This program included not only Intensive Russian Language Courses (4 academic hours per day), but also karaoke in Russian, meeting Russian students, Russian games and parties, tours introducing places of interest in Sakhalin, cooking Russian dishes and other unforgettable events. The program was specially designed by SSU international department for Japanese university students from Tokyo region and Hokkaido. It impressed everyone greatly, both students and faculty, who still do remember this language summer school.
It should be also mentioned that our Japanese colleagues and partners participated in the program: M. Numano-san, famous literary critic and interpreter and K. Iwamoto-san, professor, Sapporo University.
